As we’ve got so much stuff lined up for the rest of this year and on into 2008, it’s time to “grow the company” as they say and bring in another in-house programmer to stop Ian from spontaneously combusting.
If you’re interested, take a look at our job posting on Gamesindustry.biz and send in your CV. We’re after talented C++ programmers who want to work on interesting new games and don’t want to spend their lives stuck in a horrible building with no access to beer.

You have probably gathered from my silence that Austin GDC was a fantastically busy time, and that is no understatement. Great to meet everyone who I met there, especially Christian, Sheffield and Brandon for getting me into (and entertaining me at) Gamecock’s party. GDC in San Francisco is….currently a possibility INTO WHICH I am looking. But catching up on actual work is a priority right now.

An advert where Senator David Palmer from 24 explains about a kind of road accident fraud called a “Swoop and Squat”.
It’s raining in Texas. I visited the Convention Centre today on my strange tour of the city – there were two guys sitting outside reading Game Developer’s Career guide. I guess things are hotting up.

I’m currently sitting at Chicago O’Hare using overpriced wi-fi on my phone to bring you this exciting update. Only a couple of hours until my connection to Austin and a whole world of game development promise…I sat next to a woman who used to be a marketing manager for a huge book publisher on the flight over. She regaled me with a tale of how said publisher was royally screwed over by the holder of a big movie IP (a REALLY big movie IP) after being suckered into a multi-title deal. Sobering, and another reason why it’s good to stay out of ‘big business’. That said, I’m cooking up ideas for the Mode 7 empire as we speak, so when I’m old and broke you can come back to me and mock me for failing to listen to my younger self.
