MIDEM

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

Just to kick off next year with even more travel, I’m moderating a panel discussion at the MIDEM music industry conference in Cannes.

Speaking will be Jesper Kyd, who I rate as one of the greatest working video game composers, and also the justifiably plaudit-laden English musician Nitin Sawhney (responsible for the Heavenly Sword soundtrack).

Travels and Returns

Just got back from Main #2 in Marseille – my first demoparty!  There was some fairly extreme craziness – I hope to post a load of videos on some video sharing website you probably haven’t heard of.  I’ll link to those soon.

I should also add a big thanks to everyone at Gamecity in Nottingham and a hello to all who encountered me there.  We hope to be back in full force next year with at least part of a game to show off!

We’re now working on a couple of secret projects again, with the new game kicking off imminently as well, so keep it here.  I plan to stay around Oxford for quite a while now and get serious about the writing on the new game – I’m sure Ian’s pleased to hear that!  Things are progressing pretty well but it’s time for a bit of pre-production crunch to kick in, I feel.

Please swing by #determinance on maxgaming.irc.net to get hold of us if you need anything – we’re not in the forums so much these days but we’ll try on be on IRC most of the time we’re at work.

I am definitely currently interested in talking to anyone who would like to do some concept art for a 2D game at a low rate – this will be basic early concepting stuff to help us out with design so no mega-paychecks unfortunately!  We do have some budget, though, so get in touch and we’ll discuss it.
