Mode 7 is hiring! Senior C++ Programmer Required…
![]()
Guys, we really need someone amazing for this position – please pass this around. We are looking for experienced people, maybe people who have worked in a big studio for a long time and want a change of atmosphere as well as more flexibility.
Senior C++ Programmer
Mode 7 is an award-winning independent game development studio based in Oxfordshire. Our most recent project is the strategy game Frozen Synapse.
We are looking for a highly talented and experienced senior programmer who is happy to work as part of a small hard-working team. You must be self-motivated and reliable, able to adapt quickly and make your own decisions.
You will have been the sole or lead programmer on various systems and will have held professional programming positions for several years.
You will be working with our Lead Artist to build custom rendering solutions which meet his needs, and also with our Lead Programmer on creating game and networking systems. You will be personally ready to meet the challenge of working on innovative indie games; learning new skills will not be an issue for you.
We offer somewhat flexible hours and opportunities to work from home after an initial period. We also encourage employees to attend both mainstream industry and indie events!
Required:
Extensive knowledge of C++
Experience with either openGL or DirectX in a modern renderer
Experience with a high-level scripting language
Knowledge of server-client asynchronous programming
Ability to work in our South Oxfordshire office
Games industry experience
Desirable:
Work on at least one AAA title
Experience with animation systems
Knowledge of the Torque game engines (especially Torque 3D)
Experience compiling projects under Linux, OSX, and iOS
What you will be doing in this job:
Adding features to and optimising our deferred renderer
Working on an improved animation system for our engine
Porting large parts of our renderer and engine to OSX and Linux
Working on an in-game store system
Maintaining and upgrading our game server back-end
Working directly with both the Lead Artist and Lead Programmer to help them execute their vision
Pushing yourself in new directions!
Salary:
